Abiotic variables found in terrestrial ecosystems can include things like rain, wind, temperature, altitude, soil, pollution, nutrients, pH, types of soil, and sunlight.

so, decaying logs in the woods not be an abiotic factor because the living things in an ecosystem are called biotic factors. Living things include plants, animals, bacteria, fungi and more. so logs would be biotic
