3/6 + 1/16 . . .

3/6 = 24/48

1/16 = 3/48

( The LCD is 48 )

24 + 3 = 27

The denominator stays the same . . .

= 27/48

Simplifying 27/48 . . .

27/48 = 9/16

3/6 + 1/16 = 9/16 <-------

We need them to have the same denominator. Let's use 48.

3/6=24/48 1/16=3/48

24/48+3/48=27/48=9/16
