If we add the two equations we get:
-x - 6y + x - 2y = 10 + (-2)
-8y = 8, therefor y = -1

If y = -1:
-x - 6(-1) = 10
-x + 6 = 10
-x = 4
x = -4

Therefor the solution would be (-4, -1)
