This principle of diet planning is called adequacy. An adequate diet provides the human body with energy and nutrients for optimal growth, maintenance and repair of tissue, cells and organs. Water, carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins and some minerals comprise the six nutrient classes that are relied upon for performance of essential functions and activities.
