In an Absolute Monarchy you have 1 person with ABSOLUTE power that is passed down by blood ties to the family. Example a King dying and his Son takes control.
In a Democratic government the power is elected and shared. Examples would be like the US government system with a president, congress, and judicial system or the british parliament and prime minister.

Democracy is a type of government carried out by the nation’s people either, directly or indirectly. The common practice of this government is to give the power of the governed to elected representatives. Absolute Monarchy, on the other hand, is a form of monarchy in which one ruler has supreme authority and where that authority is not restricted by any written laws, legislature, or customs.
