The length of a rectangle is five times its width. if the perimeter of the rectangle is 60 yd , find its area.

Well if it is 60 yd around the perimeter then you have the expression 2x+2y=60
The other expression is y=5x because it is 5 times the width. So when you plug that into the first expression you get 2x+10x=60 next is 12x=60 and x=5. so if x=5 plug that in so it is 10+2y=60. Take 10 away from 60 2y=50 and divide it by two so you get y=25. So y=25 and x=5
