If the length is 8ft, the the width would be 3ft, because 3x8=24.

P = 2(L + W)
P = 24
L = 8

24 = 2(8 + W)
24 = 16 + 2W
24 - 16 = 2W
8/2 = W
4 = W.....the width would be 4 ft
