I think there is a big difference between the two. Ignorance is the lack of knowledge on certain things. If you teach an ignorant person, he or she can learn and not be ignorant anymore. Apathy is the lack of enthusiasm or emotions for certain things. In this sense, it's hard to make a person listen if they do not find it interesting.People leaning towards apathy can be very difficult to convince.
