consecutive even integers are 2 apart
they are x and x+2
sum means add
so

they add to 234 so
x+x+2=234
2x+2=234
minus 2 from both sides
2x=232
divide both sides by 2
x=116
x+2=118

the numbers are 116 and 118 and the larger one is 118

This question is asking for the sum of TWO consecutive integers.

So, you would first divide 234 by 2. You get 117. Add one to 117 to get 118. 118 is not your largest integer, while 116 would be your smallest.

Check your work by doing 118+116= 234!
