Why might some journalists like to be called muckrakers while other dislike the term?

While many muckrakers were involved in what would today be considered tabloid journalism, many more were involved in uncovering serious injustices, corruption and other social ills and crimes committed by those in power. For those people, being called names was a badge of honor, because they knew that if they were making powerful people mad, they were doing something right.
