What is the relationship between the lines determined by the following two equations?

6x – 2y = 16
y = 3x – 8

The equations are the same!

Let's get the first equation into proper y = mx + b form.

Subtract 6x from both sides to get -2y = - 6x + 16.

Then divide by -2 to get y = 3x - 8.
