How would you sole this equation if you were solving for x ?
6x-2x+7=23

put the x on one side of the equation (divide x from the 6 and 2)

Combine like terms first:

4x+7=23
Subtract seven from both sides:4x=16
Divide both sides by 4
x=4

Plug 4 into the original equation to check work:6(4)-2(4)+7=23
24-8+7=23
16+7=23
23=23
