The equation would be x<5

First, graph the line x=5
Then, to determine which side of the line to shade, use a test point. I like (0,0). I plug in 0 for x because that is the x value. 0 does make the equation correct so (0,0) is included inside the shaded area. Shade the side that has (0,0) in it and you're done.
