The area of the trapezoid is [tex]\frac{1}{2}(b1+b2)*h[/tex]

  • b1 ⇒ length of one of the bases ⇒ 3 km
  • b2 ⇒ length of the other base ⇒ 5 km
  • h ⇒ height of trapezoid ⇒ 9km

Therefore the area is:

   [tex]\frac{1}{2}*(3+5)*9 =\frac{1}{2}*(8)*9=4*9=36km^2[/tex]

Area: 36 square kilometers

Hope that helps!
