If the child’s swing is supported by one rope, then its tension would be

F = ma

F= (35 kg)(9.8 m/s^2) = 343 N

But if (I assume) the swing has two ropes, then the tension in each rope would be

343/2 = 171.5 N = 170 N ( two significant figures)

The answer is 170 N
