Ranges of the species overlap in Arctic coastal areas, but polar bear range is primarily sea ice, and brown bear range is primarily terrestrial. Polar bears are carnivorous and only pregnant females hibernate, whereas brown bears are omnivorous and both sexes hibernate.Nov 1, 2012
