Why do you think scientists call the nervous system, nervous?

The nervous system derives its name from nerves, which are cylindrical bundles of fibers (the axons of neurons), that emanate from the brain and spinal cord, and branch repeatedly to innervate every part of the body. I hope this helps I’m not a scientist

the nerves system communicates, regulates, and controls the body. our nerves carry signals or impulses through the body. there are different types of nerves so they j called it the “nervous” system.
