Explanation: Samurai were the ruling class in medieval Japan and possessed many benefits and advantages that the normal peasant in Japan did not have access to. In fact, a samurai could kill or maim a person that belonged to a lower class if they believed that they were "compromising their honor."

Samurai could punish the lower-class without permission from the government.
