-2x-10=-3 which equals -2x=7 then divide by -2 and get x=-3.5

First we multiply the left side by the -2 to get rid of the brackets:

-2x + -10 = -3

Next we add 10 to both sides to get x and its multiplier by itself.

-2x = 7

Now we divide both sides by two to get rid of the multiplier on x:

x = 3.5
