Systole
(1) The contraction of cardiac (heart) chambers is called systole.
(2) Blood is pumped out of the cardiac chambers.
(3) The valves are closed to prevent backflow.


Diastole
(1) The relaxation of cardiac (heart)chambers is called diastole.
(2) Blood is received in the cardiac chambers.
(3) The valves are opened to allow entry of blood
