Solve for x

8x + 15 = 3x - 20
Add 20 to both sides. It should become
8x + 35 = 3x
Then minus 8x on both sides, which is now
35= -5x
Divide both sides by "negative" 5 to get x by itself
X= -7

Check your answer by substitution. (Plug -7 for x)

but really if the answer you are looking for is the value of x you have to take out x and do 23 - 20?
