People try finding fossils everyday but since it’s very rare it takes time. You have to dig and dig into layers of rock and dirt to find fossils from millions/billions of years ago. Mudstone, shale, and limestone are layers of rocks that are likely to have fossils. Layers in the rocks create a physical timeline.
