Distance formula:   (D = Distance)

D = [tex]\sqrt{(x_{2} - x_{1})^{2} + (y_{2} - y_{1})^2 }[/tex]

Now replace each variable

D = [tex]\sqrt{[(4-(-4)]^2 + (0-7)^2}[/tex]        The 4-(-4) would simplify to 0

D = [tex]\sqrt{(0)^2 + (-7)^2}[/tex]                        Further simplify

D = [tex]\sqrt{49}[/tex]

D = 7, -7                                        Distance can't be negative

Thus, D = 7
