A car goes around a flat curve of radius 50 m at a speed of 14 m/s. What must be the minimum coefficient of friction between the tires and the road for the car to make the turn?

Coefficient of friction will be 0.4

Explanation:

We have given radius of the curve r = 50 m

Speed of the car v = 14 m /sec

We have to find the coefficient of friction

For maximum turn frictional force must be equal to centripetal force

So [tex]\mu mg=\frac{mv^2}{r}[/tex]

[tex]\mu=\frac{v^2}{rg}=\frac{14^2}{50\times 9.8}=0.4[/tex]

So coefficient of friction will be 0.4
