Answer: x=-1 and y= -3

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve for x, x+y=-4

Minus y from both sides so it'll be X=-y-4

Now substitute -y-4 in x-y=2 and solve for y

-y - 4 -y=2

Add like terms, -2y - 4=2

Add 4 to both sides -2y=6

Divide both sides by -2 [tex]\frac{-2y}{-2} = \frac{6}{-2}[/tex]

y= -3

Substitute -3 in x=-y - 4

x=-(-3) - 4

- × (-3)= 3

3 - 4= -1

x= -1
