because all of the numbers have a variable attached, your first step should be to combine all numbers
8m - 2m = 6m
6m - m - m = 4m
4m - 2m = 2m
this means that 2m = 16
divide by 2 on both sides
16/2 = 8
2m/2 = m
this means m = 8 :)
