Jean Baptiste Charbonneau was a Native American-French Canadian explorer, guide, fur trapper trader, and military scout during the Mexican American War. You can also know him as the son of a Shoshone Indian known as Sacagawea, who guided and helped Lewis and Clark explore the Louisiana Territory.
