Essentially the Christians wanted the Holy Land because that was where Jesus had walked and lived. His great miracles occurred there. Christianities roots stemmed from the Holy Land: Christianity branched off from Judaism.t was the place of birth of many Prophets like Zachariah, John, Jesus, Jacob... and it was where Prophet Abraham, father of Isaac and Ishmael; ancestor of Arabs lived.
