you times 6 to 12 and 6 to -4

here

[tex]6(12+-4)\\6x12+6x-4\\72+-24=\\48[/tex]

Distributive property:

a(b + c) = ab + ac

6(12 + (-4)) = (6)(12) + (6)(-4) = 72 - 24 = 48
