The answer is battery. By hybrid it means combination of power source, battery and fuel combustion to power up the engine. In most hybrid cars , both source are used for acceleration, with the correct engineering this allows to save more fuel in return. This is also the reason most hybrid cars are more expensive than the conventional ones.
