The Tet offensive showed how big of a problem the north Vietnamese army actually was. It was believed by the US people that the war would be over soon and easily and then the Tet Offensive happened and they understood that the US was in a losing war and pressure started building for them to leave. This did happen eventually and the Northern people managed to beat the southerners when the US left.
